A Moments Wisdom

–Pain nourishes courage. You cannot be brave if you’ve only had wonderful things happen to you.
–It is innocence when it charms us; it is ignorance when it irritates us.
–If you are suffering from a bad man’s injustice, forgive him lest there be two bad men.
–There are two types of people in this world: those who come into a room and say, “Well, here I am” and those who come into the room and say, “Ah, there you are.”
–Humble prayer: Lord, help me to admit when I am wrong, and make me easier to live with when I am right.
–The wisdom of God appears in afflictions. By these, He separates the sin which He hates, from the son whom He loves. By these thorns, He keeps him from breaking into —Satan’s pleasant pastures, which fatten him indeed, but only for the slaughter.
–All things change, both good times and hard times come and go. The Bible often says, “And it came to pass.” It never says, “And it came to stay.”
–Poor workers always seem to find fault with their tools.
–I set out to find a friend, but couldn’t find one. I set out to be one, and friends were everywhere.
–Use what talents you possess; the woods would be very silent if no birds sang there except those that sang the best.
–If you must talk about your troubles, don’t burden or bore your friends with them. Tell them to your enemies, who will be delighted to hear them.
–Humility is like underwear: essential, but indecent if you show it off.
–We probably wouldn’t worry about what other people thought of us if we really knew how seldom that they do.
–The afflictions of our earthly pilgrimage point toward our future glory, just as shadows indicate the presence of the sun.
–There are no uninteresting things; there are only uninterested people.
–Beware of half-truths; you may have hold of the wrong half.
–The man who expects to get to heaven should take the trouble to study the route that will take him there.
–Poverty: A state of mind induced by the neighbor’s new car.
–We all admire the wisdom of people who come to us for advice.
–A Christian must keep the faith – but not to himself.
–Life is not a problem to be solved, but a gift to be enjoyed.
–People who look for the easy way out seem to have trouble finding an exit.
–Life is measured by its depth, not it’s duration.
